Recruit Academy Training Photo Gallery
Cheyenne firefighters are a group of individuals who have been selected based on a number of criteria. The testing process takes place every two years and an eligibility list is generated from the results. Hiring takes place in the spring and fall on an as needed basis to fill vacancies. Cheyenne is a full member of the Northern Colorado Fire Consortium and new recruits are sent to an accredited consortium 14 week fire academy. During the academy they are trained in fire suppression, hose streams, rescue, vehicle extrication, vehicle fires, ladder management, high-low angle technical rescue, trench rescue, hazardous materials, and much more. The following are pictures dipicting the intense training that the new recruits receive.
